Taken from their last album Victim Of Love, both “Confusion” and “Where Do We Go From Here?” represent Charles and the Menahan Street Band's bright, tight funk credentials with powerful glee. The former is an unashamed funk stomper (think Sam Moore) with big psychedelic splashes on the chorus while the latter is a much slower, moodier jam where a bold guitar riff glides us into much more emotional pastures. Outstanding contemporary funk soul.
A pair of the most incredible cuts from Charles Bradley and The Menahan Street Band! “Confusion” takes Bradley's raw soul roots to a new level – with his gritty, JB-inspired soul singing echoeing over a killer psych funk arrangement from the gentlemen of Menahan. It's got the raw drums, bass and brass we love so much, but tripped out atmosphere and waves of echo that really do make this a next level winner for all involved. “Where Do We Go From Here” also has some atmosphere – and a really cool bit of organ in the mix. Greatness!
